Semi-Permanent Mounting Instructions

Light mounts on supplied 1/2" x 18" rebar metal rod.

  1. Choose a spot for your light and clear or remove a small section of soil/mulch slightly bigger than the base of the light. This will give you excess soil/mulch to help stabilize the light and room to bury the wires.
  2. Drive the rebar into the ground, making sure it is vertically straight. Leave approximately 2 - 3 inches of rebar exposed.
  3. There is a hole on the bottom of your light just big enough to slide over the rebar.
  4. Attach wiring as per instructions supplied with your own 12-volt low voltage transformer. Be sure to use wire caps included with your light and always use a high quality electrical tape to wrap your wire nuts.
  5. Stabilize light with existing soil/mulch.

Permanent Concrete Mounting Instructions

Post stand-off base with foundation bolt. You will need to set foundation bolt in small concrete footing. Upgrade to this mounting style for an additional $9.00.

You will need:

40 lb. bag of Quikrete per light
Small hand level
Phillips head screwdriver
High quality electrical tape

To begin:

  1. Dig a hole approximately 12 inches by 12 inches.
  2. Mix Quikrete according to package directions. Avoid making the Quikrete too wet.
  3. Pour Quikrete in hole. Only fill the hole to approximately 3 inches below the final grade of your ground (the final grade includes mulch or other top dressing). The remaining 3 inches allows the mounting bracket to be hidden.
  4. Use your hand level to make sure the top of the concrete is completely level.
  5. Place the 6 inch foundation bolt in the center of the Quikrete, L-side down. Push the bolt down leaving 3/4 of an inch of the threads exposed. Re-check Quikrete level. Leave this set for 48 hours, taking precautions to ensure your footing does not get wet.

To set the light:

  1. Once the Quikrete has set, attach mounting bracket, washer and bolt. Rotate the bracket to your desired position. Tighten down bolt until it’s snug.
  2. Set light down on bracket, making sure the wire cover plate is on one of the exposed sides of the bracket. Take your hand level and set it vertically on the side of the light. Make sure it’s level. Repeat this on an adjacent side of the light, always making sure the light is level.
  3. If your light is slightly out of level, you can adjust it when you mount the light to the bracket.
  4. Use the four supplied screws to mount your light to the bracket.

Connecting the wires:

If you have a 12-volt light, attach wiring as per instructions supplied with your own 12-volt low voltage transformer. Be sure to use wire caps included with your light and always use a high quality electrical tape to wrap your wire nuts.

If you have a 110-volt light, consult your certified electrician.

Deck Post Mounting Instructions

Four feet of cover plate are supplied per light.

You will need:

Small hand level
Phillips head screwdriver
Galvanized trim nails (no longer than 1 1/2”) for wire cover plate

To set the light:

  1. Use your hand level to ensure the top of your 6”x6” deck post is completely level. If the top of your post is not completely level your light may look off balance.
  2. Remove the four brass screws from cap taking note that the slots are aligned horizontally. Take cap off light and remove all four glass panes.
  3. Center the light on your deck post. Find small routered groove under light box. This is where the wires will come out of your light. Position the light on your deck post according to where you would like the wires to run down the post.
  4. Take the four supplied 3” screws and carefully insert the screws in the four pre-drilled holes inside the light frame. Make sure all four screws are in place before tightening them down completely.
  5. Reassemble the light: slide glass panes in, textured side out; center cap on light box, partially screw all four screws in before tightening them. Align screw slots horizontally and avoid over-tightening of screws. Over-tightening may cause the screw to strip out in the hole.

To install cover plate:

  1. Run wires down your deck post.
  2. Take cover plates and cut to desired length. When joining two cover plates together, the proper way to join them is a 45æ miter cut sloping away from the post.
  3. Set trim nails 1/4 to 3/8” from edge of cover plate. This ensures you will not nail into the wires.

Connecting the wires:

Attach wiring as per instructions supplied with your own 12-volt low voltage transformer. Be sure to use wire caps included with your light and always use a high quality electrical tape to wrap your wire nuts.
